Nice pictures! So you ended up in a ghost town and were almost hit by four deer! Where were you?

If I end up getting a new bike, it might well be a Mondraker Foxy. One of the things I like about it is that seat tube angle is very steep for an all mountain bike: 75º, this is typical in cross country bikes. That means it comfortable to pedal. At the same time the head tube angle is a fairly slack 68º and that means good control when going downhill. Besides that, its Zero Suspension System is supposed to be one of the best.

It´s somewhere around 65 kilometers -NE- from Madrid...

Impressive bikes you are thinking of, David. Just when I thought I´d had a crush on the last one you´ve mentioned, you came up with a better one!. Oh dear oh dear... The Mondraker looks like a bull!

I hope this is not an achilles´ heel in the frame... Of course it´s not. It´has to be Hercules proof designed. For sure it is.

Mondraker gives a lifetime warranty on the frame for factory defects. So if it starts cracking due to normal wear and tear, in theory they'll give me a new one.

By the way, I've been calling the different shops around Madrid that carry Mondraker, seeing who'll give me the best deal. However, it seems none of them are 'authorized' to give more than a 10% discount. That somehow doesn't sound like true blue capitalism, but I think maybe some find creative ways around it.

One drawback of the Foxy is that I'm between sizes, but the shopkeepers have been recommending a large for me (rather than a medium). Also, it seems that the Foxy has a 20% discount, but not the Foxy R. Bad luck. Why couldn't it be the Foxy R?

    Hello,

Here's my new bike... narrow tyres, no suspension and funny shaped bars, but it's fast fast fast...

So you were looking for a road bike and didn´t say a word about it!!!. Lovely bike there MacKem! It looks great, a really nice one, love it… Congrats !

Is this your first roadie ever? You know, It´s a completely different way of approaching to the biking world that I do love so much!. I hope you like too. Welcome to the fast side of the 2 wheeled-no-motor machines. You have come a long way up and down over rough terrain on your MTB, so that your engine is ready to ride on the road using a fast skinny machine like that. Can´t wait for your first impressions on the matter.
    :drive
MacKem on paved roads! WoooooW!!! AND remember:::: On the road, momentum is ALSO your friend!!!

    Hi Guy's!

Wondered if you could help with a query? I've just joined the site to try and find a bike and tried to respond to a user who has PM's turned off. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong and wondered do I have to have a number of posts or some other such rule to be able to respond in the forum to for sale threads? I dont read or speak Spanish that well - yet.

    Cheers!

    Welcome to the forum Kanza.
As far as I know, you don´t need any number of posts to get in contact with anybody who´s selling a bike. On the contrary, you have to have a number of them if you wanna sell something in the forum. You´re not allowed to sell till you have reached 50 posts.
Anyway I can help you with your spanish if you need to contact him in my mother tongue.

Mackem, you dark horse! You've got yourself a new steed, and now you're taking to the road! Lovely bike, nice colours. Enjoy it!

Hi Kanza, I've never heard that you need a certain number of posts before you can send someone a PM. It doesn't matter if the guy isn't online when you send it. Give it another try and see if you have better luck.

Feel free to write or ask more questions anytime!

Let´s try to unveil the mystery behind the Mackem´s new lovely road bike.
    :scratch :melopien:

Apparently he was a mountain biker and that´s it. I was mistaken in thinking his chance buying a roadie was close to zero. So, as Chainring says, you dark horse!
We can not understand the secret of MacKem´s conversion to road biking. We DEMAND some explanation on this. :deal :foto LOL

    Hi guys!

Interaptor, how are you feeling with your new MTB? Starting to enjoy it?
I would say you need to think is a different animal from your rodie.

A total different animal and thank God I love it. Mountain biking is really an exhilarating outdoor activity. You know, I´m far from being a speed compulsive biker (besides my engine is too limited yet) and what I like the most is to be able to reach any given point at whatever tough terrain… I´m learning to cope with some obstacles in my way, understanding how a MTB reacts, preparing myself to avoid the risk of injury, and above all enjoying the ride getting in contact with mother nature!.
I do love both sides of the coin, road and mountain biking. I knew it would be this way, and my bike-experiments are really paying off… I´m still in the process of learning and the more I ride my MTB the more I want to ride… It´s some kind of “feel like a child” syndrome!

Well, on January 1st I had 1 road bike(singlespeed) that I used for quick blasts up and down hills (training )

I had 4 mountain bikes (all of them hardtails)

I moved to a smaller house and it was getting expensive keeping 5 bikes on the road, so I decided to be sensible and just have one very good mountain bike and one very good road bike.
I sold the singlespeed and 2 mountain bikes and some parts. This gave me the money to buy the nice road bike.

So, now I have the road bike, mountain bike and a pretty rubbish frame that I'll give away or put in the bin.

It's not my first road bike, I've had a few in the past but for various reasons I've always had to give them away.

I am thinking about a full-suspension bike now.... (dont tell my girlfriend)....

The perfect number of bikes = X+1

    X=number of bikes now

Ah, I now see the point. 2 good bikes instead of 5 give you enough room in a smaller house…
    So far so good... :rasta

Well, well, well… but according to what you don´t want your girlfriend to know, I mean the X+1 formula in your mind, let me put it this way: 2 good bikes give you enough room to think of a 3rd one, the full suspension bike, and then again the 4th and the 5th bike!!! LOL :wall

I hope your girlfriend doesn´t know you´re posting in here such that train of thoughts! :qmeparto

Mackem, sounds like you're downsizing a bit. Makes sense: fewer bikes, but better!

I really like your description of getting into mountain biking. We should all 'feel like a child'! Nice.

And I have some good news. I've made a verbal agreement to buy a new bike! an Orbea Rallon 30. It's a bike that was taken around to bike fairs I suppose, so I'm getting it with a BIG discount. Too good to pass up! Here it is.

    Ver el archivo adjunto 2882539

The bike's in Ferrol so I should get it next week.

Chainring! I like this bike. It seems new in this picture. It´s incredible all the offers that there are on this moments on second hand. I´m looking for a 29 bike, but this kind of bike is more complicated to found on this moments on second hand, it´s possible in two years I will find something more easy but now it´s impossible, almost here.

I like Orbea style on his models, the new Rayon and new Occam are beautifull. I saw yesterday an 29 Alma and it´s one of my candidates for new hardtail bike but I don´t want to take a fast decision, first I´m going to prove the 29 Scalpel.

Just 5 words to describe that magnificent bike, David: STATE-OF-THE-ART BIKE!!! WOW!!!

Top quality bike, top quality Company and life warranty for your bike. You now have your dreamed bike and it´s just superb. I´m so glad you got it!. Besides it really catchs the eye, what an exquisite and delightful machine it is… Your rides on a bike like that will never be the same I presume. Congratulations on getting one of the best all mountain bike in the market.

Wow. The hide-and-seek play looking for the right bike is over. The winner is the Orbea Rallon 30 and this bike stands out from most of the very good bikes out there I must say… and it´s yours!!!
    TREMENDOUS BIKE!

I´m really glad you have found the right bike. Keep us updated on the Orbea when the bike is finally in your hands in Madrid!!!
    WOW!
