You could have given it a try, since it´s just an hour and a half or so of real darkness from 20.00 to 23.00pm. I guess you now have the technique to handle those obstacles in El Pardo blindfolded! :)

Anyway, a pic to liven up your non-bike evening.
This is Pedro Delgado – ´88 Tour de France and ´85 & ´89 Vuelta a España winner- and me at the Retiro Park in Madrid. Later that day It was my pleasure and my honor to share the Colmenar bike lane and some words side by side with him while supporting Diego Ballesteros on his way from Madrid to London on a hand-bike. It´s also a Cool wallpaper, isn´t it?!

Wow, I have to admit that IS cool. You're rubbing elbows with a pretty high caliber biker there. Maybe some of his magic, or at least stamina, will rub off on you!

    ha ha!! a little story...

i was once on top of Morcuera pass,, perhaps 4 or 5 years ago and it was august: there i was in my way to LAs Presillas down in Rascafria when we -me and my wife- began to see road bikers everywhere... Suddenly we were surrounded by a crowd of men in lycra suits, 'what' happening? ' we asked ourselves. And yes, it was the Perico Delgado bike race.... there are many bikers involved in it.... Guess how dangerous it was to drive down to Rascafria among them. It took us more than a while , but hey there wasPerico so i was glad :D

Jorgt, nice story. Sounds like you and your wife were on road bikes. Also sounds like you know the area well.

A program not to be missed, and we all missed it!! :(

BTW, thanks for the bike reviews, including one of my bike. They were pretty brief, but I suppose that comes with the territory when you're reviewing 15 bikes. Wonder where they got them?

I'm probably going running this evening. BTW, looks like the mercury will be climbing steadily over the next few days :( Meltdown! Meltdown! Aaaaaahhhh...

I'll do best! I remember in my (much) younger days working out in a gym and my workout partner yelling, 'push, push'. I suppose they say the same thing when a woman is giving birth, but this shouldn't be so bad ha ha. OK, off I go! Push! Push!

Yeah, I remember you telling me about that guy.

I checked out the race and it looks like fun; well, tough and you have to be really fit and well organized, but it doesn't look too tecnical. So it's about doing 100 km every day for seven days in desert conditions. I wouldn't mind doing it.

ThanK U Doohan!. LOL. Didn´t jorgt mention spontaneous combustion?. For God sake, David, that´s a desert, nothing to do even with our hotter summer days. 100 kilometers a day in such that extreme conditions in the middle of nothing you may get mad. Having said that, what I wouldn´t mind doing is a less millage per day competition to get a piece of the cake.

Lads, I will be off for some days. Not on vacations yet, but leaving Madrid so my connection to the forum is not guaranteed till I return on Sept.
I just wanna wish you a great vacation. I´m sure Chainring will ride the hell out of -and get the most of- his Orbea Rallon when in the Galician Paradise. A great place for a truly biker to stay in the summer, so I´m glad to Know he has the blast ahead of him!.

I hope all of you can enjoy your ridings on your vacation as well. This is best the time for you to do it and for sure you deserve it!. So no matter where you go, Keep on pedaling and have great fun out there!!!. Guys, See u on Sept!!!

    Cheers!.

Well, Santi Millan did it. I'm sure it's tough but I don't think you have to be an iron man.

Oh, I was thinking we'd be going on some more rides. Well, we'll be in touch via the forum and will see you in September!

On Saturday a friend and I did this route.

    http://es.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/view.do?id=1882814

Well, actually we skipped the loop that goes down to Rascafría and back up La Morcuera. That would be a tough ride. So we parked in Miraflores and pedaled about 12 km up to La Morcuera. If I may add we were moving right along, in fact in the highway section Carlos and I passed up a guy on a road bike.

Then we went to Canencia and found the single track/trail that goes to Miraflores, think it's called the GR10. The first part was very technical as we were riding in, over, and through rocks, but that section vastly improved the ride. It was good to have a demanding technical section: it really is a whole different ball game from the dirt roads that precede it.

So I'll be doing that again when I have the chance!

Today I found out about hard core enduro riding: El Whistler and El Miedo. That sort of very technical stuff may actually be over my head. Or maybe on my head. I fell once on El Bambi, pretty literally kissed the ground, but happily didn't hurt myself at all. In any case, I didn't find today's ride difficult as far as fitness goes, but technically I think it's the toughest I've ever done. Ended up hoofing it quite a bit, oh well....
