That's what I mean: Ver el archivo adjunto 3218678 It's an ergo trainer associated to a social net, and you can go for a virtual ride (because the set simulates the profile of the track you've chosen to ride) and you can organize leagues to compete with other users, etc. http://www.bkool.com/store/productDetails/3 ¡Hala! Hmm, I suppose this stuff is right on the border of what's legal. Road riding and moutain biking really combine well. Road biking for strength and endurance, mtb for skills, tho there's obviosly strength (and not just leg strength) and endurance there too depending on what kind of riding you do. After some hard rides over roots and rocks I've had sore arms and chest muscles. Suppose I should do more push-ups :calimero I agree about what you say about safety, tho I sometimes do dangerous things but I try to do them safely! :-o Sounds like you're saying you don't ride road bikes because you feel they're too dangerous. So you're a proud user of Bcool, and you ride when it's raining. I have to admit I'm not into that, try to avoid it.
Here's another (little) pic from last Sunday. You can see I'm doing dangerous things, but safely! Tho I have to admit that if I fall I won't be landing on sand, but I'm wearing knee, elbow and hip pads and a full face helmet. What I'm missing might be body armor (a 'peto' in Spanish). I'd like to buy some but I hear they can inhibit your movements, and they're hot in the summer, they're great now tho, help keep you warm!
Well, you can think of Bkool as a forerunner of futuristic virtual rides. Though not the same game, We´d truly avoid the setbacks of cycling such as bad weather days as you say or all the inconveniences caused by the real thing. It would take us much less time to get ready for a ride, choose whatever scenary we want, keep our bikes clean, challenge whatever ace or friend from home, no fall risk, (not even specific armour set needed, Chain!) , etc... That reminds me of the evolution of games and virtual reality. The first years of videogaming maybe a little boring but who knows how the future will be and how well real all this stuff would become... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgGV7lWKXDA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLo1vpSe6Iw Imagine the same pic of Chain on the top of that mountain, stones all over the way, climbing, jumping, descending with no risk and no extra money to spend in protective clothes... I mean, a futuristic truly realistic app that made you feel like you are out riding on a real bike, along with real bikers... while pedaling as usual. Not the real thing for now but realistic feeling could well be a key factor for such a game to success. Meanwhile, heed Chain´s advices and put your bike on the road whenever you can! It´s a lot of fun... and keep an eye on those app´s Mario is talking about for not so fair weather or any other circumstance you´d like to. Guys, I will be off the radar for a while... Keep on pedaling one way or another!
When I talk about safety, I'm only referring to cars and asphalt, nothing about stones, roots and all that stuff... I love that! The point is that riding my mtb after a rainy day here in Alcalá means you're gonna turn into a mud doll, because mud here is so adherent that after 2 m in certain parts of the park that is impossible to ride! And you can turn into a successful ashtray maker (with so many mud, aaaaaall for you if you succeed in removing it from your bike). I enjoy the trainer because it helps me to continue riding when it's not possible. I do hate road riding because I don't feel comfortable at all, but I don't miss a chance to enjoy a real ride when it's possible. :biker ¡Hala! Yo también tengo Tapatalk.
If you live in an area with inclement weather, investing in all that equipment might not be a bad idea. As things stand I usually manage to get out for a quick ride on a real bike. Off the radar? Traveling again? You probably won't miss too much as the forecast says we're in for some rain. Well, El Pardo isn't so bad after rain, I mean, you'll get dirty when you splash through puddles, but it isn't really sticky like you're talking about.
That's what Jorge and I talked about after your ride together. It's an interesting alternative for rainy weather. I was used to that kind of terrain when I lived in Guadarrama, so many years ago. My first rainy ride in Alcalá was shocking. I decided to withdraw by the first fiveish kms... And I spent 3 in the car wash to remove all the mud! ¡Hala! Yo también tengo Tapatalk.
Oh boy, I thought I had to, but eventually my trip´s been called off until Feb. On the radar again guys! and seeing the clouds in the sky you mentioned. Not the perfect day to ride but man, we´re supossed to be all weather bike enthusiasts. If not, we can always avoid mud and rain by being bcooler enthusiasts!. You know, after our last roadbikin´ ride in the fog, my chain got so stiff and noisy that I had to clean it up and lube as never before, just as if the whole bike had been ridden on some kinda hell . I can see the muddy terrain all over Alcala. I´ve suffered myself Alcala´s mud on my car. Turns out I almost got stuck in the mud on the uphill that goes from Azaña plain to Zulema forest. A ROYAL pain man... Nice photo of you through water! Do not forget adequate routine maintenance of your Rallon´s pedal axel and components when hard on them in conditions of humidity and dust!. Cheers!
Well, I'm glad you'll be around for a ride, though we may have to call off our Friday ride on road bikes. AEMET says there's a 95% chance of rain at 12:00. I really don't understand what bcooler does to help us avoid rain. I suppose it gives you the weather forecast.
Much more than that, it gives you the weather you like! ;-) virtual weather to choose from a list while at home...
Looking forward to seeing Oprah's interview with Lance Armstrong. Simultaneous broadcast from Discovery Channel Net. and Discovery Max Spain,. http://discoverymax.es/programs/174 Cheers!
Now might be a good time for some virtual weather because the real weather is not looking good: rain and more rain in Madrid, maybe even snow! I don't get any of those channels so looks like I'll miss the interview. Oh well, I imagine at least parts of it will be on youtube.
I bet you don´t!. You´ll probably miss the live broadcast but I guess it will be a hit not only on Youtube but everywhere so that you can watch short clips, the whole interview or whatever on this matter whenever you wish. Thouh a live broadcast, it´s not a live interview, and man, it´s too late in the night ( starting at 3.00am Spain´s local time). We´ll keep an eye on the weather as well. Tomorrow´s our road bikin´day. Cheers!
omg! not again! weather reports and forecasts are meaning that will have a crap time for granted. Are as sulky as me? i can't bear it anyway ... my only relief is that i'll have a proper cross race this sunday, full of mud, puddles and epic. by the way...ARmstrongs' affairs won't bring any light to the issue
Though it will be raining cats and dogs on Saturday, you will have a chance to see the Sun on your XC race day. Enjoy it! Chain, you´ve got pm.
Singing in the rain, singing in the rain ♩♪♫♬ but not biking in the rain. Hmmm, maybe I can sneak out tomorrow morning for a bit. Cross Race on Sunday, cyclocross pehaps... Ver el archivo adjunto 3223811
Ladies and Gent, Brian´s got a new bike - a Niner EMD 9!- that is pretended to be super fast juzging not only by what the specific model name stands for ( E.M.D. = eat my dust, maaaaan!!!) but because it´s an offspring of the 29" specialized models from a relatively new brand which is causing a stir in the world of big wheels bikes. So, here it is. A NINER EMD 9. I hope Brian has a blast on his XC brand-new red machine, but for now we´re looking forward to hearing Brian´s technical adviser -meaning Chainring!- first words on the matter!!! Will we all eat Brian´s dust?. At least everything will turn hunky-dory for Brian when practicing some XC along with us!!!. Can´t wait to prove my words right, bro!
I had no idea EMD meant eat my dust. What a surprise! It's a pretty cool bike, isn't it? Actually Brian's a novice mountain bike rider so I'm thinking of going on some relatively easy rides around here. Unfortunately he's pretty busy at work these days and doesn't have much time to ride. In fact, I think he's a bit out of shape, but this bike should be good motivation to get back in the saddle.
