Well, since things are quiet around here, maybe I'll just post another pic from yesterday.

morning! hey what's that guy doing right behind of you, watering the shrubbery? he's been caught!

Finally the day had come and i was on the starting grid of a proper race last sunday. That's a different kind of biking, demanding, tiring, thrilling... bounded to sport and suffering instead of enjoying outdoors and having fun. But it was pretty exciting you see, everybody there in a rush for its own goals. I ended up in the middle of the bunch and learnt a lot about this kind of racing. There's such a long way to ride yet.... Aw i nearly forgotten :p Mario came as photographer, he took some nice pictures, a sneak peep here...

Hi guys! As Jorgt told before he was pretty well accompanied by a whole bunch of cheerleaders and also by me, wasn't he?

So, since I was only watching from the sidelines it was a really nice occasion to squeeze the juice out of my DSLR... and I got impressively satisfied.

    Here you can enjoy them:

Jorge, congrats on your really good experience. I actually feel envy, I'd really like to have a go at something like that myself. That's my problem, I want to do everything! But I just don't have the time and resources to do it all.

Nice photos Mario! I'm hoping to get a camera myself, a portable one to take on my rides, probably a Casio Exilim ZR200.

Sup guys, sounds like all things considered Jorge made a grim of pain but also a pretty good fist of racing. I think he has done a great job 4 so little experience at the event so I wanna congrat him on the place. The race looks like a blast. Next time he´ll have it go better than he planned for.

Judging by Mario´s great photos posted, the race looks like a real blast with all those bikers into flooded stream splashing through the water. Mario did capture the moment penned-in among bike enthusiats at strategic locations so that there is not seem to be that much of a difference between a hobbyist and a professional photographer.

Chain is waking up and smelling the coffe when it comes to enduro practicing at whatever God forsaken place in the Sierras. I hope that camera he´s thinking of is full suspension waterproof one! ;-)

Yeah, sounds like a good learning experience for Jorge, and it does look like a lot of fun. Well, painful fun, pushing your body to its limits. Actually I wouldn't mind having some details, like what was the race called? Where was it? How far was it? What was your average speed? Can anybody sign up? I noticed there were girls participating: girls and guys in the same race? Don't you think it'd be a good idea to wear sunglasses? At a minimum they'll help keep flying bits of dirt out of your eyes.

In some of the pictures they were splashing through water, so here's a pic of me doing likewise, and trying not to get water on my sunglasses.

And now other exciting biking news! I had the morning free so I rode my jump bike down to Biketown and left it there so they can tell me what's wrong with the front forks. At the moment they have a travel of maybe one cm, so landings are rough. Actually haven't been doing too much of that lately. Also while I was there I picked up some chain degreaser, oil, and a spare chain. I like the folks there: you may or may not know that they're XC aces.

Then on to the Meca of mountain biking: Decathlon! ha ha. Picked up two cycling jerseys several sizes too big for me, am planning on wearing them over my body armor. I suppose the temperature is going to start creeping upward before long so they're not actually jackets but jerseys for coldish weather. Also a new bike pump: the handle fell off of my old one. Probably planned obsolescence, almost everything's programmed to break after a certain amount of use, like printers. They're designed to work for a while and then kaput, you have to buy a new one. But I degress. In any case, with my new purchases I'm especially eager for my next bike ride, which should be on Friday.

Indeed. I see, Bike stuff and bicycle accessories turn you on!. BTW I´ve discovered another bike meca, not far from Decathlon Alcobendas you´ve been visiting today. Take a look at their website. Seems like not bad prices and great variety of products over there: http://www.bikesradical.com/b2c/inicio.php. We have to go one of these days to see whats going on there.
And maybe inspired by your today´s purchase you wanna know the drill of racing!!!. You definitely are thinking of getting into the action man. LOL.
No kinda photoshop effect applied on that photo? Wow, That´s a pretty cool splash on the way and since everything is reductible to the three elements -air, water and earth- we colud say you´re unstoppable! To heck with flying on a plane, jumping on the bed and now canoeing on kayaks or splashboards solid wood ... you can make it all on your own and the little help of your bike.

Hi David, here are some answers!! the race was split by age, gender and some other stuff.... there's girls elite, men elite, m30, m40, m50, m60, junior.... they run in different legs according to this terms. So female elite and m40 -aged from 40-50 did a 3 lap race at 11.00am, men elite, under23 and m30 were in the same leg at 12.30: whilst m30 did a 4 lap race, the others were for another lap more! each lap consisted of 6 kms and 200m climb which is pretty tough . it took me 1h38m to finish my 24 kms race, so that makes an average speed of around...16 km/h??

Yes, anyone can join there's a 1 day racing license at the cost of 7e besides the inscription -12e- that allows you to be in the grid.

Glasses? well they can get dirty pretty soon hence you won't be able to see the track! i don't recommend them much but that's a personal choice, plenty of riders wore theirs.

You're like having an orgasm in your picture, isn't it? squirting water and so... sexy pic , aye!

You're on fire, shops are waiting for you man!

Hey!, It´s St. Valentine´s Day. For those of you rude cyclists who have yet to purchase something, forget crystal and silver bike shape jewelry, Lance Armstrong´s silky smooth select chocolates or elegant red roses on a stem.
V-Day is not about expensive, big gifts, but about showing you care for someone, so take her lipstick and use it to give her temporary tattoo, try to swim unique and creative in your sexiness, fog up the windows and draw initials on them, don´t let presents such like pillowcases or heart snap on cases talk for you, call up your sweetie and sing a song over the i-Phone instead, or just go to (notice: explicit advertisement on here) the best music-box store in the whole world ( http://www.rinconmusical.es/ ) and pick up exquisite shiny magic chords of music coming from angels. No gifts for me though. :-(

I´ll be off the radar for a while but up -I hope- for tomorrows road bike challange.
keep on pedalin´ and good luck with your presents.

    Cheers.

Oh, they have a bricks and mortar business. Well let's check it out sometime.

No photoshop, what you see is what you get.

Thanks for all the info. Maybe someday I'll have a go at XC racing. The Biketown crowd is really into it and I'm sure I could along with them sometime.

And now that you mention it, the pic does look pretty orgasmic. And that leads me to today's question: is biking better than sex?

At least a bike ride lasts a bit longer than sex. Actually, a beer lasts longer, hey ho...

What can I say, biking and sex, apples y oranges, they're just not the same thing. How about road biking and mountain biking? Today I went 123 KM on my roadee and got pretty tired. This was taken in Bustarviejo.

Well, I went with Juan Carlos, a road biking buddy. Interaptor went with another guy for a shorter ride.

So we started off on the Colmenar bike lane, went up to Colmenar and turned off on the M-625. On that highway we went down the Cerro de San Pedro, through Guadalix and on to Navalafuente. There we turned on another highway with a seemingly endless uphill till we finally got to the town of Bustarviejo where we had a quick banana break. Then on to Miraflores and back to Guadalix, and this time up the Cerro, then back to Colmenar and Madrid.

Like I said, it was 123 km, our average speed for the whole thing was 27,7 km/hr, that includes our leisurely warm-up. Let me tell you, I was well and truly tired when we got back. This kind of ride is great for your endurance, but it doesn't usually require the brute strength that your sometimes need on a mountain bike. I've always been best at endurance, but still, I was reaching my limits on this ride!
