I do always recomend to drop by SportZone when thinking of buying a bike or sport stuff, including football equipment . I have not seen better quality/price on anything else out there. Anyway I think Red´s yet bought her bike, hasn´t her?.
A quick look for instance at CR reveals a decent Corratec 29r in the 800-900 euros range. 832 euros to be precise.

Frame: 29er Technology Alloy 6061
Fork: Manitou Tower Expert 29",100mm, 1 1/8", Remote Lockout
Chainset: Shimano XT, 175, 44-32-22
Rear Derailleurs: Shimano XT Shadow, 10-speed
Shifter: Shimano SLX 10
Brake Lever: Shimano 445
Brakes: Shimano 445 - 160mm Rotors
Wheels: Zzyzx Hubs and Rims
Tires: corratec Grip Master 29" 29 x 1.9"
Stem: zzyzx 601, 15°
Handlebar: zzyzx 153, 6° , 620
Saddle: Selle Italia Zoo
Weight: 13.2 kg

See what I mean?. Not so long ago, Brian -male rider- was looking for a decent 29r bike like this and I´m sure overall we all would have recommend it, wouldn´t we Chain?. Never mind; the only problem, it´s a womens bike ;-)

Football training?!!! Tonight all you gotta do is supporting Real Madrid.

in the break of reporting you as an atletico de MAdrid supporter, please don't let football come our way!

Heard you talking 'bout mech issues , but? Sure the more demanding the route the sooner to be serviced.... my bike is pretty well screwed as well, front rim's bent, rear hub's a bit loose, and i'm full of bruises n scratches, starting to hate the day i decided to compete. 2 banging crashes in a 7 kms lap it's more than my fair share i guess, so... bike being serviced and Betadine and bandages user of the week, sulky in a word??

xDDD I've got my dear "boy" (as you refer to your bikes as girls i'll do the same xDDD) last summer, but it wasn't easy, i'm a proud owner of a connor wrc.
What I recently bought was the hometrainer, an Elite Novo. There's no indoor substitute for my football training myself, so i'll be there after working and be back home just in time for the match, don't worry. My coach is a Real Madrid supporter, I don't think he'll miss one minute for a bunch of clumsy girls...

I gotta admit that I tend to abuse of my girly condition when refering to mech issues, i haven't yet discovered that pleasure, it's much easier asking at my local bike shop, or just wait till some good samaritan shows up and helps me. So, next time you see a girl and a flat tyre, that might be me, even more if it's the rear one xDDD

Neither Mackem nor you are clumsy. Regarding his derailleur hanger things just got in its way, as for you it´s just the floor that hates you. Anyway remember to tie your shoelaces before getting into the pitch and yeah, don´t spit into the wind. ;-)

Who cares about clumsiness or laziness... when it is a girl stranded on the side with a flat tyre, samaritans turn up wherever you look. The world is just unfair. A chain that breaks on Chain, Chain showing his leg, and no such a chain reaction to help him! ;-)

I'm at work now and I've just asked a teachers room full of Brits if it's admissible to say 'practise sports' and the answer was a resounding 'no' (tho admittedly one or two seemed reluctant to agree).

You "do" sports in general. A specific part of a sport you "practise". e.g. I'm practising penalties. Or I'm practising bunny-hops. (ie you repeatedly try to do these things)

Two crashes! I hope your bike is OK! Oh, and you too, ha ha. In any case, you're lucky it's only cuts and bruises, doesn't sound too bad and I'm sure you'll be back on your bike soon. I imagine when you're racing and at your limits, crashes are more likely. But you're undoubtedly learning a lot, so don't be down in the dumps, next time you'll do better!

Hi Inter! Yeah, that Corratec doesn't look bad at all for the price. Brian paid considerably more for his Niner, but the frame is really good and the bike weighs less.

Wow Red, you play football, Cool! I have a Conor WRC as well (a Conor Tora), but since I got my enduro bike, an Orbea Rallon X30, now the love of my life, the Tora is now my 'other bike', my XC bike. I really should get on it more but haven't been seeing much of my XC friends (like Brian) lately. Maybe I will when the weather starts getting better.

:alloreto Definitely it's not good to be off the radar for so long... I felt like reading a novel trying to get updated with so much to read!

Nice to see new people popping in, even a woman biker! Welcome both of you. Now I'm not the only indoor biker on this thread, am I? My loved gadget keeps me biking these rainy days dry and comfortably warm at home. Anyway, I'm looking forward to some good news to go back outside, since our loved single tracks are much better than this.

Please guys, stop breaking everything! All of you seem to have turned mad at your poor defenceless bikes. I do know that's quite common on Jorge's habits, but I thought he was the only one :malaleche

Mario, good to hear from you again! Yeah, Jorge does seem a bit accident prone, doesn't he? Ha ha, it's probably bad luck to say that, even jokingly, I'm probably next :alloreto

Today I did my first serious bike maintenance on my Rallon, I...
· took off the master link I put on my chain in El Pardo and put on a normal link. I'll save the master link for emergencies.
· put on new rear brake pads. I probably should've replaced them a few weeks ago, there was metal on metal in places.
· cleaned and greased the headset.

Did it in the hallway just outside the storeroom (trastero).

Great! the most useful site I´ve ever found to step-by-step guide you on the maintenance of your bike is this one below:

http://www.youtube.com/user/MundoMammoth?feature=watch

And this is what today you have supposedly done:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPjncwtSPfo

Hope everything is allright and your Rallon is better than new now. 8)

BTW, Sorry to inform you that I Won´t be up for Friday´s ride, as I have quite a new 4 day trip ahead of me. I´m leaving in a business trip tomorrow till Sunday afternoon. So, no road biking for me this week, but I truly hope the weather is nice for you to put the Scattante on the road and then the next day the Orbea into... you know... into the air ;-)

Keep on pedalin´. See U!

What a coincidence, I actually looked at the very video you posted to make sure I knew what I was getting into. In any case, after doing the maintenance work I rode my beloved Rallon around the car park and everything seems to be in good working order. So can't wait to go for a ride!

But, (and this is an ominous 'but'), the forecast for this weekend is looking grim, if AEMET is right about things you won't be missing any rides. BTW, you seem to be traveling quite a bit lately. Maybe on our next ride you can tell me what you're up to. Enjoy your trip!

Sorry to hear about your elbow :( sometimes that type of injury takes a while to heal. Take care of yourself!

A few days after the rain and El Pardo will be superb, great time to go for a ride! On the other hand if you wait till the weather gets hot and dry it's gonna be a sand pit and you'll be slipping and sliding, much more dangerous. Let me know if you want to meet up there sometime, or I'll go along with you and your buddies and try to keep up for a while.

I went down Redbull last Sunday and thought of you. The place where you fell seems a bit less dangerous now, not quite as narrow, I suppose the bikes passing through have widened it. Well, in general the ground there is loose and with all this rain, things change!

Since last Friday was Women's Day and we're been talking about female bikers, here's a video called Girls are Awesome (and sexy).

Today did some extreme biking in the Casa de Campo, ha ha. But hey, it's a nice place to visit. Rode bikes with an old friend of mine, Rod.
