Today eleven of us went for a ride in El Pardo, at last! I feel so much better. Had a great ride too. After all that rain the air was so fresh and clean, and the ground was nice, maybe a bit muddy in places but overall it was good. And I was just having a good day as well. Hey, I'm chuffed to bits!! By the way, Red, I saw six girl mountain bikers and each time I wondered if one of them was you. If fact, I saw a group of four riding together, unaccompanied by guys, I could hardly believe my eyes. They were definitely getting some attention, in fact I may have been staring... oh well. Hey, why don't you post a pic here of you on your bike so I'll recognise you if our trails ever cross. Or maybe we can go for a ride sometime in El Pardo, I mean a group, maybe we can twist Inter's arm and get him to come along. So you returned your hometrainer to the shop or something. The 'geras' weren't working, I googled that and no luck, maybe you mean 'gears'. I've heard there's good biking in Portugal, tho personally I've never ridden there, but in August I ride in Galicia (the Ferrol area) and good!. Sounds like you're going to have a fun holiday!
LOL chuffed to bits. Let´s try some more words here (Jorge will love it): Are you suffering from male blindness??? ;-) LOL I´m glad you finally got a buzz, some betty on the way, your dual boinger dialed in!. Twisting my arm? I´m a balance blackout XC rider kinda gutter bunny and that means no death cookies, nor sheer gonzo vertical drops, nor gravity checks, nor hiker logs, nor gnarly grunt grinders that require using the granny gear, nor rooty terrain to get a chainring tatto, nor mudholes to get John boy´ed big time, nor mud-ectomy after all this... on my way man!. All right, all right... Just kidding with some more MTB slang, but yeah, If you cheer Red up to practice enduro she might end up like this girl: Sounds like a big Eastern adventure ahead of her BTW!
If I ever look like that I'll kill myself... ok, not so tough, but maybe I'll slow down a bit... Yesss, I meant my gears, there's a problem, I never take a look at what I have just written... It's not gears properly said, some kind of resistance... But you might see me somewhere a little bit more northeastern, I live on the other side of El Pardo, close to A6, and I'm considering changing my tyre to BTT one instead of road, and going out this week and until I leave for Portugal. Tomorrow I'm back to football training, so not at all bike, bike for me, but it's about time for serious sports And indeed I think my calves are far more than ready to whatever I wanna do... I think travelling with the bikes will have to wait till summer, as I have already booked a couple of hotels, and haven't taken a glimpse about transporting them and just us in the car, I wish I had way to unmount them I keep them in my trunk
As I see it, back seat folded your Focus is capable of accommodating up to 3 people with their luggage and two bikes, only if you´re a tetris packer… A piece of cake if there are just two of you. Not legal whatsoever.
Wow Inter, impressive slang, just one thing, I ain't no gutter bunny! ha ha About the above picture, I really think you need to spend time on weight machines to get legs like that, where you're lifting lots of weight. Biking and running legs don't look like that, mine certainly don't. Red, sorry you're not taking your bikes on your trip, bet it'd be a lot of fun to ride in Portugal. I have a bike rack for the back of my car and it's perfectly legal, but you'll need a 'placa V20', like this.
Oh! I almost didn´t know a word of what I was talking about!. I guess luggage belts around whole thing to prevent it become a potential missile in case of an emergency stop help to make it legal, but yeah, the DGT is trying to turn off the idea of on board fitting things like that... No patrol officer will stop you using Chain´s bike rack tho.
try to speak some english instead you cheeky guy! i hardly caught up with some of that stuff! Swear you i'll get rid of it , sure! Messed by the Guardia Civil? that i haven't been yet , at least on that subject, just for speeding, driving under the influence, some parking fines.... but absolutely no concerns on carrying the bike .....and it's often travelling confortably loose into my car. I'll knock on wood for the good of my tiny wealth! Rub your eyes Chain and give up some illegal substances cos no one can believe what you said: 4 biking girls on their Jack and Jones??'Really?? XD XD
Inter, that's how I take them whenever I go to Abantos, but for a further trip I'm a bit concern that I'll get a huge ticket If I'm found out (and I'm sure I will)... I know that Thule sells some for inside, but it's for bigger cars that allow their back seats to fold completely, and or I'm too dull or the ones at my Focus don't do it... As a pic of me............... here you go, my profile pic in Twitter... Ver el archivo adjunto 3312986 And as I said I think for our next long trip I'll consider renting a van, don't tell me why but I'm not a big fan of having them hung out of my car...
Can someone clarify what the law actually is about carrying bikes in a car. If my bike is strapped down inside the car is that ok? I cant see any difference between having a bike in the back of your car and having your shopping in the back. Surely there is more chance of a tin of beans flying around your car than a bike frame?
That's what I've read, a bike has to be strapped down in a car, otherwise you can be fined. Actually I'm not either, I keep thinking that if something breaks on the motorway my bikes will fall off while I'm doing 200 km/h, ha ha. But yeah, like Jorge says, so far I haven't had any problems carrying my bike loose in my car. My contact with the Civil Guard has mainly been limited to high-speed chases when they're trying to catch me for driving with my bike loose, but happily I've always managed to get away It doesn't work, says it's an invalid link or something. Hmm, maybe it was an acid flashback from my hippy days, hard to be sure.
Mackem, If it´s firmly strapped down it is allright. I hope this helps you: Revista Tráfico y Seguridad Vial - nº 208 Tráfico y seguridad vial / Los peligros de llevar la bici en el interior del coche Club Deportivo Ciclista Adamuz: Normativa para el transporte de Bicicletas Red, if yours is a hatchback your back seats are full foldable. Again, if your bikes are firmly strapped down inside, it is Ok. You can also remove those seats by unscrewing the mounting bolts.
Inter, thanks for the info but they don't specify how the bike is to be strapped in, I googled it and couldn't find any pictures of a properly strapped in bike. Would bungee chords be enough? Since I have some around, I was thinking of using lashing straps. Other news: this forum appears to have improved or even fixed its technical problems, I just got this message on Facebook, so hurrah, maybe this'll be easier to use now.
Fair enough Chain. Here you are the wrong and the right way, or according to the Spanish Law, the legal or illegal way to carry your bike inside a car: Firstly the wrong way: Bicycle into Prius - YouTube Now the right way: (at 1.00) Cómo llevar de forma segura una bici en el coche - YouTube A DIY idea could well be an old roof mounted carrier like this on the pic below. Screwing a couple of brackets on the timber and attaching the front fork through a quick release skewer, you can easily strap the whole thing down into the trunk. Cheers!
Thanks Inter, I'm gonna have to have a look at my car, don't know if there are enough anchor points to strap in my bike as in the video. I don't think the DIY idea would work in my car. Today is the spring equinox, the night and day are the same length. Soon we'll have long days and plenty of time to ride our bikes, and better weather! Of course it'll be hotter too, but ideal weather to ride in the high Sierras, like Cercedilla, haven't been there for months.
YEAH! Springtime... Bye bye fall, bye bye winter... Time to get some spice in your life!!! TIME TO PUSH A BUTTON TO ADD DRAMA!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=316AzLYfAzw Get in the action! ;-)
Ha ha ha, hilarious video! BTW, have you noticed that the 'like' buttons have disappeared from the forum? Maybe they'll be replaced by 'add drama' buttons, hardy har Hey, I wanna go to Canada
Oh... the like button gone... The "Ciclismo de carretera" button is also out of order :rambo Besides, With no drama buttons This forum is losing face! Nice vid, so you wanna go to Canada...mmm... as a finger in the dyke we´re heading to Cercedilla on Sunday!!! ;-)
