Hi Inter! I didn't see your last post till now. Usually the forum lets me know when someone's written. Anyway, you seem to have a special interest in electric bikes: you rented one in Germany, and now you've borrowed one in Cercedilla at Test the Best. Personally I don't think I'll be getting one anytime soon, but I can see why people would like them. Anyway, isn't it more fun to see what you can do with human power? After all, on our bike ride last Friday our average speed was 33.7 km/h for a 40 km stretch. That's nothing to sneeze about. You know, I think maybe we're ready for the big leagues... uh maybe not, ha ha. So today today we did Miraflores, Canencia, Pico Perdiquera, Cabeza la Braña. Ran into a few cows on the way.
Oppsss, Are you smiling with a defiant look of a cow standing still directly behind you??? Yeah, I´m completely blown away by our last road bike day´s performance… it was a little shocking too because we started out slowly, talking while pedaling, with no rushing whatsoever. But once we got off the bike lane and reached the U right turn towards Cerceda, we made a dash for it!. That confirms our theory, in order to get a good average speed It´s important that we start the ride carefully and save as much energy as we can. Anyway, that´s just the beginning, cause we have to be lucky enough with the winds and above all, to make a great effort to see our work being rewarded with that number (33.7!!!) in our trip computers. Cheers!
A new picture, a new post! Today went to visit an old friend in the Casa de Campo, which is pretty tame stuff, except for a few areas like 'Suicide Hill' (La Cuesta de la Muerte). As is often the case, I don't think the picture really does it justice, for most people it's a frightening downhill, not for the faint hearted. My friend, Rod, was saying, 'Are you sure you want to do this? You're not as young as you used to be.' My response was that I'm still crazy after all these years. That's a song, by the way. Well, here are the pics.
And today, La Pinilla Bike Park. Unfortunately I can't do jumps like the pros, but I do what I can. But all in all a good ride, but my hands and arms got really tired, I tell you, it's very different from pedaling.
Nice pics David, as usual. I could see also Inter being seduced by the camera . How're you doing guys? I'm suffering my mates again, but it's good to feel I'm not so badly fitted. I also had an affair with some cams in San Martín de Valdeiglesias, where Jorge and I participated in "los 88 de Mammoth", despite the fact that I took the short (60 kms and 1600 m) option. Here are the pics, enjoy'em:
Wow, It´s proven by all these pics that when Mario and Chain say they´re going for a ride, they really mean business!!!. Nice shots!!!.
Hi Inter! Hi Mario! Nice pictures, really sharp, in focus; and you really get a feeling of action, like you're really moving along. BTW, I went on a ride in that area last January. We did the five 'Marías', the five downhills. So the first downhill is the first María, and so on. It was really nice! Here's another picture from last Sunday. You can see that we didn't have to pedal up.
Well David, I can see you're in downhill mode. Lately you're uploading many photos from there, right? I've always had curiosity about that discipline, but I have neither the bike nor the rider stuff so I'll continue being only a dreamer about that, ha ha.
Actually, despite the recent pictures from the dark side, I'm not moving in that direction. In fact, today was far away from that: road biking, went to Navacerrada. That's a tough ride, let me tell you. Also in August I'll be going to Galicia (the Ferrol area) where all my riding buddies are into XC. Actually I wish I had a really good XC bike for Augusts, but my enduro bike will have to do. I need more bikes! Ha ha
Today's bicycle adventure started off in San Rafael, where we froze our butts off! at least in the morning, ha ha. We were all really surprised how cold it can still be in the Sierra at this time of the year. We're not kidding in the picture, we were freezing, 8 degrees! But hey, there are some really good trails over there, and it's the best time of the year to go to the north face of the Sierras. It's cooler and not as many people as you get in Cercedilla and the like. So great ride!
Opps, it seems like winter is back at least for some hours... For those of you US citizens who haven´t seen a proper and real castle (except those in Disneyland as Chain said), here you are, Manzanares Castle behind us, a pretty bike line ahead of us heading towards Madrid... Cheers!
That's a nice castle. I've passed by it hundreds of times, avoiding the A-6 traffic jams on weekends. Today I show you several shots from last weekend in La Jarosa and its surroundings: I hope you like 'em.
I've been looking at your pics for ideas. Sometimes fairly simple pictures are very effective, at least apparently simple. For example, the third one: just standing next to a boulder but with a beautiful sky and clouds in the background. Nice! I haven't been that active lately on the biking-photography front, I'm working long hours this month, but here's a picture of Suicide Hill (La Cuesta de la Muerte) in the Casa de Campo.
Hey, after my summer holiday, I'm back in town! (in Madrid). It's been so long it feels like a leave of absence. But I'll be sharing a few pictures before long. Hope everyone's well and pedaling!

Two English guys got in touch with me through this forum and asked me to show them around el Pardo. Well about eight of us got together and we showed them the highlights. They took a picture of me as well. Good ride!
