Los cassettes XTR nunca han sido baratos, pero me da que este igual rompe algún record. Está hecho de titanio, aluminio y acero. Las coronas pequeñas en acero, y las grandes en titanio con araña de aluminio.

Pero gracias a SRAM ya estamos curados de sustos con los precios de cassettes.

a mí los elementos de desgaste de aluminio de más de 300€ me la ponen durísima.

 

Yo voy con todo shimano, menos cadena campagnolo y no puedo ser mas feliz. De hecho vendí un XX1 que tenia y me pase a Shimano. Más barato e idéntica calidad o superior para mi.

 

Incluso van a sacar un mando remoto para tijas pijas.

 

Hace ya muchos años que son así, hace unos meses yo compré un 11-34 en 10v para la gravel por algo menos de 100€, cinco coronas superiores en Ti y cinco inferiores en acero, las seis coronas superiores con araña de Al. Y con un piñón expansor de 42 dientes de EThirteen por 15€ voy tan feliz por el campo.

The USE Helix is the first dropper post the British component brand has produced. The Helix is available in a standard 125mm drop or a whopping 165mm.

For a brand synonymous with seatposts, and telescopic suspension ones at that, it probably comes as a surprise that the Helix is USE’s first ever dropper. It’s been all over cycling media since the prototype was unveiled a couple of years ago. But as always happens with such a complex component, getting it perfected to the point where the company was happy to release it took its time.

Helix isn’t just a pretty name for the post; it provides a clue into the unique nature of the inner workings of the post. The Helix you see is based around a helically coiled rod. The way U.S.E. best describe the movement is similar to that of a spiral ratcheting screwdriver. But don’t worry, the saddle doesn’t spin around! It’s just the internals that pirouette. Press down on the post when the lever is depressed disengages the clutch controlled locking disc, allowing the post to drop. Releasing the lever locks the disc in place, allowing for infinite positioning. The helical tooling of the central rod ensures the post moves evenly and under full control.

The return speed is determined using air pressure and can be adjusted through the handily located valve at the head. The return will go from glacial to eye-watering, dependent on the personal preference of the individual rider.

Even the thumb pad is machined into the shape of the USE logo, helping aid wet weather grip. To further the customisation, USE also include two grub screws at the back of the lever to alter the length and ultimately the throw of the lever. For the ultimate in smoothness at the lever USE has teamed up with another British brand, Fibrax, to supply the Helix with their slickest inner cable and housing set.

The ball joint mounted lever features an extending blade machined in the shape of the USE logo.

saddle clamp is also a doddle to use with the single, easily accessible bolt making angle adjustments rapid and simple. Once tightened it has held rock solid with zero creaking.

165mm is a pretty long drop. Great for my gangly legs.


The only sticking point with the Helix is the physical length of the outer post. At over 330mm (plus allowing for cable) it is too long for a fair few frame designs and is over 50mm longer than many other posts. This is especially the case on smaller frame sizes or if the seat tube is interrupted. One of our testers couldn’t fit it to his bike as it resulted in too much exposed post for him to actually use the full height position. So for riders with this sort of frame or are shorter in stature you might be better off looking elsewhere. For the rest of us, USE has created an excellent dropper to make the choice even harder now.

Verdict
USE has produced a highly functional dropper post in the form of the Helix. Lever action is smooth and light and the post has remained faultless throughout the test. Be aware of the added length when compared to some of its arrivals, especially in its longer 165mm guise, as it might not fit a small frame or one with an interrupted seat tube.

Que guapos los guías XTR:

 

Nuevo sistema en el nuevo buje XTR. Enganche mediante ratchet tipo DT, Chris King, etc, pero al parecer con algún sistema de desacople que lo hace silencioso. Cosa que me parece de pm. Scylence System:

 

Ah! Y continúan las bolitas, los conos, las tuercas...

 

Me parece que es al revés, araña de titanio y coronas de alu, pero sí, debe ser caro del copon


The new cassette makes use of aluminium larger cogs, a first for Shimano.

 

Buen paso adelante de shimano en general, en peso, unas bielas sram aun son mas ligeras, en desviadores por el estilo, el 1x prefiero la robustez y capacidad de sram, los cambios X-horizon por ejemplo, ( a falta de ver lo nuevo) eso si en cuanto a suavidad y refinamiento gana shimano, en una de mis bicis monto mando shimano (con desviador sram) y me gusta mucho como funciona.

Por esta imagen, en la rueda libre parece que no....

Parece que lleva "cuna" para rodamiento....
En el cuerpo del buje no lo sé, puede que lleve sistema de bolas y conos tipo ruedas Campagnolo Bora (el núcleo si es con rodamientos)

Según el artículo que enlacé parece que mantienen sistema de bolas y conos, por lo tanto tienes razón Tongolés.
Creo que en la rueda libre los rodamientos de cartucho hubiesen ido mejor...

No esta mal que shimano haya tardado 18 años en entrar en el siglo XXI

 

Si me dices que ademas llevas ruedas Mavic, dire que eres el tio que va mas al limite de la historia del MTB jajajajja

 

Perece que a medias....revisando el artículo y lo comentado por otro forero mantiene las bolas y los conos....
Tanta revolución les ha debido dar vértigo, eso sí sacan un nuevo "estandard" de núcleo...
