Today I went to Cercedilla and realized how little I really know the area. That was because I went with Pedro, who knows it like the back of his hand, and went to completely new areas for me. Well, mainly the beginning of el Calvario, but also other trails. In any case, was a good ride. I'd post a pic we took at a scenic bridge, but the forum won't let me  Well, patience is a virtue.

Operational new system, Can´t see the pics.
Anyways, I feel like you had a blast riding on the weekend, knowing new spectacular places in the Sierras and seeing how JC got a flat!!! :D;)
Big is on his way back from Kenya, so get ready for more rock and roll!.

Pd.- I´m trying to figure out how this new system goes on...

Trails and Cercedilla, altogether in the same sentence it's like a dream came true..... eagerly waiting for your flicks!

Me myself made the most of it this weekend and enjoyed 2 lovely spells of good weather and trails, SAturday with some company, Sunday on my own.... both days went fine, exciting and demanding: what else can be said? I'm truly in love with Mtbiking!!

I see there is passion all around you. It is no coincidence that your bike´s name reflects your feelings in doing so. :p

Yeah, I feel the same passion for biking. Hey, I'm no fair weather cyclist! I'll go, rain or shine. Actually I really prefer to stay out of the rain if possible. In any case, I actually did peek over at your thread and saw that you'd gone for some cool rides.

The new system here is still giving me problems, it's not letting me do multiple quotes.

In any case, Inter, good to have you back on the radar, and looking forward to our next rides. Juan Carlos has been in touch with Big, who apparently has put on four kilos while on his honeymoon. Four kilos! If it were me I'd consider it a disaster. He should have taken his mountain bike with him to Africa, and got another one for his new wife! Ha ha

    Still can't post pics here.

Nice pic! That´s an Idyllic place to camp in the park.
4 kilos? Well, this is our oportunity to check out first hand what weight and lack of training mean in terms of performance... We don´t have to be too cruel to the poor thing, but I´m thinking of climbing to Canencia as his first ride after his honeymoon... They say Africa is a wild place to visit, but we can think of many more to ride just around the corner!. Hell waits after his Honeymoon. :p
Pd.- I´ve noticed the forum a little tricky but faster than the old one...

Well yes, but it's not a campground, tho I think there's a sort of rural hotel not far off.

Actually that doesn't sound like a bad idea, but JC thinks he can only go for a short ride this Friday. Also, check this out: aemet says a 70% chance of SNOW in Miraflores on Friday, and temperatures are dropping, brrrr. I'm wondering if it might be better to stay at lower altitudes, but we'll play it by ear.

Wow, that camera is pretty amazing, I can see it's a beautiful day in Soto today. Yeah, we'll definitely consult that before our ride on Friday.

Hi guys! Despite all the changes in our beloved foro I'm still here. These days I'm looking forward to having time enough to get back to my bike seat! I already said goodbye to my running season so, now it's time to remember how it is to ride through the trails, because the only bike I know lately is my urban clunker. Maybe my revival will be on saturday morning, but I've been looking for some spare time all week long... :(

By the way, your roadie day is getting closer, isn't it?

Hey, good to hear you're back in the saddle: running, urban clunker, and now mountain bike! Actually I have an urban clunker myself, it's about 20 years old. It's definitely seen better days, but I still ride it!

Yep, Friday's roadie day. That's the day I get well and truly tired, at least when we go for a killer ride.

Well, I'll bet you're looking forward to Saturday. I know I'd be if I'd been off my mountain bike for a long time. Now begins the long road to getting back in good shape again. After my last serious injury (last April-May), I actually found that I didn't have any problems keeping up with my enduro friends, but I was really hurting on the go-fast rides on road bikes, and later on XC rides in Galicia. But you gradually get it back!

That´s excellent news Mario!. D day has come at last!. Congratulations, we wanna see you enjoying on your bike, no matter what the condition.

I usually have an easy to mantain (and very useful in this regard by the way) clunker at hand. The forum doesn´t let me post any pics right now, but it´s easy to guess what type of bikes we are talking about!!! ;-)

See you tomorrow for our road bike day. Big´s in. :)

Well, I think the word for today's ride is 'wind'. We had to cut it short because with a headwind like we had today, riding to Colmenar Viejo is like going up Navacerrada, with the brakes on, ha ha.

Yes, but then there is the other side of the coin: Riding back home we were about to take off due to tail wind. That was a fantastic experience!!! :p

Thank U so much for the photo.

What a crappy weather, isn't it?

So this Sunday was a racing day for me, close to the Sierras -Collado Villalba- . With a nice snowy landscape, I got involved in a 7,5 Kms race splattered of mounds and long climbs, pretty much tyring to be said..... And what about the rest of contenders..... Half of them were firemen so figure out how it was to be surrounded with guys like that, used to hard working out. Fortunately I was game and in spite of undergoing a hangover and a pulled hamstring since last week my result was right ;) But nevermore!!

Cheeky of you for that tailwind , not fair :(

Wow, you ventured out into this crappy weather, and with a hangover and a pulled hamstring! You're my hero! That's dedication and true love for the sport! I myself stayed home on a Sunday for the first time in ages. In any case, sounds like you did well in the race, in spite of facing those burly fire-dudes. I suppose it was raining, but you don't wear glasses (or sunglasses), so I suppose you could see where you were going. It must have been freezing cold tho!

For me it's been a day of hearth and home, kids put up the Christmas tree, tho I've spent a lot of time sitting in front of the computer. Have been watching videos on mountain bike techniques, like this series called 'mtb fundamentals'. Here's the last video in the series, check out minute 1:20, seems relevant for this time of year.

Yeah guys, winter has come back, and it seems that it's gonna be for a long time. So, it's the stimulus I needed to unwrap my home trainer once more, and I did it this saturday. One hour of indoor pedalling inaugurate the hamster cycling season :D. After hiding again my running shoes I hope I'll be cycling regularly from this week on, so I'll keep you up to date about this.

Winter rides for everyone!!! That reminds me of the importance of quality bike clothing.

Lads, we all have to know when to splurge and when to save: Better to have a fine balaclava than a top of the line pair of pedals!. When winter comes, it´s all about your comfort and your health. Expensive but worthy stuff that make a difference to the isolation versus cool but useless snob stuff. A bit less heavy pedals are expensive due to tech materials but we notice exactly the same performance push as those chromoly designed. Not a big deal. The same goes with inexpensive shoes, yet better units cinch your feet comfortably in place. Not a big deal. All helmets that meet european safety standards will be equally as good at protecting our head as the next one no matter how expensive it is. Not a big deal!!! But when cold weather comes, I egg you on to forgive yourself for spending your money on quality clothing items. It really pays off!. ;) ;) ;)

    Keep on riding.

Yeah Mario, time to get out the home trainer and set it up in front of the TV, and go for it! Actually I don't have one, but I was giving some serious thought to it last Sunday, but since I have 5 or 6 bikes depending on how you count them, suppose I should use them. But my daughter is talking of getting an exercise bicycle! In fact, she wants me to chip in.

So you've put off your trimphant return to the bike trails till a more auspicious moment, like when it's not bucketing down, ha ha. Actually I think you were having mechanical problems with your steed.

Yeah Inter, this inclement weather can really change your priorities. I know my top priority is staying warm and dry, or at least not freezing my butt off. Speaking of helmets, the really good ones, besides protecting you, are lighter and better ventilated than the cheapees. But in winter you don't need the ventilation as much, in fact to stay warm we're wearing balaclavas and buffs and the like under them. Maybe all we need is a cheap helmet!
