Hi velsatis. Actually I'm mainly doing short rides these days. You know, short days short rides. So what kind of biking are you into? I suppose cross country mountain biking.
"Patilla" is the word you are looking for. For the 575 they are not cheap but makes sense keeping one in the pack. Enjoy the Yeti in Spain, mine is now riding in Switzerland. saludos. alex ooopppss someone already answered...
Looking forward to a ride in the Sierra with Dang100 this weekend if the weather's right. Hopefully I'll be trying my new (second hand) bike!
Are you going on Saturday or Sunday? If you guys do something on Sunday sometime I might be able to come along.
Hi Chainring! Hope you got to Casa de Campo all right. I am knackered but had a great time today. And enough to push me for some training to get going. Loved the singletracks and some descents I had never done despite living just across the street from El Pardo. Hope we will meet again for another ride. Cheers!
Hi malenglish (ha ha ha, funny nic). So it was nice meeting you today and yeah, good ride. And maybe our bicycle trails will cross again sometime. I made it to the Casa de Campo fine and met up with a friend there and rode around for another two hours or so. I had my helmet on from about 10:00 this morning till about 6:00 this evening, a new record I think, so I'm pretty knackered too. In any case, happy trails!
No I dont know El Pardo well at all. I know the Casa de Campo pretty well and i imagine that the terrain is very similar. I've found some routes on Wikiloc but they look devilishly difficult to follow. I guess it's just a case of getting out there and exploring. If I follow the anillo ciclista from town, where's the best place to access the park?
The best place to get into El Pardo is a little trail that goes off of Calle de Braojos and runs along side of the golf course. I'm far from an expert on El Pardo, in fact on our ride there last Sunday there were all sorts of places I'd never been to, but if you want maybe we can meet up and go for a little ride there sometime.
That would be great. Unfortunately I'm pretty tied up for the rest of the month but we could try in May sometime.
Actually I've got a lot on my plate myself. Most of my rides tend to be short ones near my house, mainly to stay in shape, tho Sundays I can go for longer rides. In fact, the bike shop Biketown in Montecarmelo is organizing a ride to Colmenar Viejo that leaves on Sunday March 20 at 10:00 from their store. I plan to be there
Hi everyone!. New kid in town... Well, My written english is a little rusty... too far from perfection, but comprehension is more important to me. I´d rather understand than accurately express what i need to. So I apologize before hand for the mistakes i make using Shakespeare´s mother tounge. If it´s also your case, don´t be afraid...I´m sure Chainring will forgive us all. It is not pleasent to see how someone have such a lack on using your language, but he was asking for it! doesn´t he?. It´s his fault. We can take it out on poor him. As a good english teacher we presume he is, he has to be used to our never-ending mistakes. We spaniards think in spanish and its difficult for us to translate the whole idea into english the way we want... It´s difficult to drill our mind once we turn 8 or so. A good comand of english for non native people requires a gargantuan effort. Now, concerning El Pardo and the best place to get into, take a look at this: http://www.espormadrid.es/2007/10/cmo-llegar-al-pardo-en-bici.html Once again, Chain is right. Cheers!.
Hi Interaptor! I didn't realize you were an English speaker (and an English writer). Well, now you can tell me what's on your mind in English. And now that the weather is getting better we'll probably have more to talk about. Today I rode my road bike to Tres Cantos - Colmenar - Soto del Real - Miraflores - Guadalix - Cerro de San Pedro - Colmenar - Tres Cantos - home. I have a very pleasant tired sensation. Cheers!
Lol. This is a buck-4-your thoughts thread. I´m not that good speaking english, neither riding my bike!. You are in a very good shape. I mean it. Actually I´ve been regularly riding my bike just for 2 months. I started from scratch this very year. After my childhood I completely forgot about bicycles... Then I bought -like everybody else- a car, a motorbike, etc... But here I am on the road again... This time with a bicycle, and don´t regret it at all. No gas, no polution and six tons of joy. My all time machine´s epitomy of efficiency and simplicity is back!... My average speed is not yet as good as I´d like it to be, but I get by. I just ride my bike to relax and to feel the "slow motion" travel ... . Details tend to disappear when you go too fast. At last nice weather in Madrid. It was about time. By the way, if you rode trought the bike lane towards Soto del Real, you have probably noticed the "men at work" sign (just leaving Colmenar) and the new lane we have... too rough in my opinion. I like smoohtness. But menos da una piedra. ( I can´t find such an elocuent saying in english... Stone is a remarkable thing only if your name is Sharon ) Cheers.
You'll never regret exchanging gas pedals for bike pedals. If only everyone would do that (this sounds like a song cue). I had a sort of bike epiphany about six year ago or so, when they finished the Anillo Verde, and I haven't looked back since. On the contrary, I've been buying more and more of them. First I rode my faithful hybrid that's now about 20 years old, then I got a road bike, then a cross country mountain bike, finally a jump bike. My cup runneth over. Actually, being a man of our times, I'm perpetually dissatisfied and now feel I can't achieve complete happiness until I get a full suspension bike (then of course I'll want something else) :scratch When I went to Soto they were painting the bike lane. Let's hope it smooths it out a bit too. But you're right, my kind of stone is Sharon Stone (Song cue: Foxy Lady by Hendrix). On another note, the ride to Colmenar Viejo that Biketown's organizing has been postponed a week.
