Yes, I agree. Mackem, that looks spectacular! I miss the sea here in Madrid, though I normally see it in August when I go to the Ferrol area.
Hi Doohan! I suppose you're heading down to the beach with your beach towel and sunscreen. Lucky you! Maybe you can rent a bike there like you have other times and go for a ride. Have fun!
Yeah, MacKem, Doohan, C-Texas... What a biking weekend you had!!!. Very nice photos of beaches and the sea there guys! Get well soon Chainring and Armentano. David, Friday the 13th is Ok for me, but first things first. My best wishes for both of you to recover soon. I got my 26” new bike with me. Having being ridden my road bike for some time, this MTB seems too heavy to me. In fact it´s around 15 Kg., almost 6 kg heavier than my roadie, but that´s just the beginning. It has big Rubena Neptune 2.1 tyres in it. Nothing that helps when on a road or a bike-lane. I can´t even keep my balance perfectly straight while riding. Just for the wildness I guess, or just too new, but I couldn´t properly keep a perfect balance on the road with that tyres. Besides, the SZ mechanic –as he told me- is prone to have your direction slightly-hard mounted, I mean not soft, so all in all it was a weird sensation when I went for my first ride comparing to those that I was used to go for on my hybrid or my road bike. Moving fast on a MTB is not as easy as I expected it to be. My average speed dramatically dropped in the graphics to the antipodes. Any Kiwi out there will soon see my shameful figures… So no need to say anything else on this!. I have the impression that riding a MTB requires using other muscles and tights than those used on a road bike. And of course, as a newbie at mountain biking, here I´m again out of shape… :whistle I´m putting to the test some saddle adjustments and distances to let my body push in a more efficient way. I do need it... But well, well, well, any positive thinking? Yes! I like the feeling of riding on unpaved paths, old roads or trails with no car at all around me… Maybe slow, but love it!. Maybe harder than expected, but I really like it. I love my bike too. Yeah! Too heavy, too dirty when you get home, maybe too cheap but I love it!!!. I MEAN IT.:razz::razz: So, question for you guys. The Rubena Neptune comes standard on my bike. This is how it looks like: Don´t you think this tyre is for muddy terrain?. Cheers.
Never heard of those tyres and have to assume they are heavy and rubbish. Mud tyres are usually narrow with "paddles" to paddle through the mud. If the weather is good and you arent actually going in mud and the surface is hard and/or you do a lot of road km then a semi-slick might be a good tyre for you.
Thank U MacKem!!! As always, straight to the point. My tyres aren´t that "paddled" made mate! I´ll give a though to semi-slicks when theese get worn out. Fair answer, very clear too...
Interaptor, it looks like your tyres ought to have good grip if you go over rocks and loose terrain, that's useful. They're not really designed for just rolling down smooth paths. Also since they're inexpensive, undoubtedly they're also quite heavy, as is your whole bike. But you can still have a lot of fun on it! Mountain biking is great fun, just you wait and see.
I'm just not cut out for hardcore enduro. All mountain and enduro light is about my speed. By the way, for more hardcore stuff, check out this thread. http://www.foromtb.com/showthread.php/149908-Devaluación-de-las-trialeras-(divagaciones)
good night people interaptor one tyres good, are the maxxis larssen and cheaps, rolling well, I had the tyres in my bike and work well and the use for enduro with a weight light
Thank you C-Texas, in fact I´ve heard tons of good reviews on the Maxxis Larsen. Your confirmation makes me sure they are the way to go but it will take me some time to firstly worn the Rubenas out! Cheers.
Hello friends! I´m here after a road biking weekend, Last Saturday I rode 120 km and yesterday something less because when I arrived to the meeting point I was alone, all people were sleeping yesterday and finaly I went to the beach making a beach route only 50 km It was enough for me yesterday, because I change some things on my bike posture. I´m happy because I haven´t any pain now almost in my neck with my knee I´m observing for the moment. Interaptor about the tyres I can advise you only some tyres for dry terrain because I use this kind of tyre all the year, here we have mud conditions only four or five days during the year. I know in others places in Spain people use mud tyres for the winter and dry for the spring and summer. For me the Larsen it isn´t enough I prefer something with more holdup like Specialized Captain, there is some model for this so chip around 18 euros. And I use this for Enduro biking in 2.0 size in the rear wheel, for me it rolls quite well, but not like the larsen this is more and XC tyre. Cheers!
Nice weekend, Armentano: road biking and beach! Sounds almost perfect, maybe a little mountain biking mixed in would make it even better. And I'm glad your neck is better, and now you're watching your knee? I guess when you're physically active you always have to worry about injuries. My calf is getting better by the way: I no longer use crutches to get around, and I did some stretching today. Makes me feel much better. Interaptor, don't waste time and start wearing out the tyres on your mountain bike then you can get some better ones!
Hi Chainring! My problem with my knee it´s because four months ago I made a biomechanics study and now I´m seeing my knee which was perfect, now it´s with pain, sometimes our body corrects some problem in one leg and appears at the other, this is my problem now, the pain it´s at the other an I´m observing every day now and taken notes to rule out some options. Sometimes I changed a lot of measures of my bike at the same time. It´s incredible but if I use rigid insoles I have the pain in my right leg and if I use the other standar insoles I have the pain at the other. It´s crazy! Chainring don´t worry about your injuries my experience tell me that the biggest pains arrives without falls, all the other pains like yours only need relax, the problem are with this pains which don´t disappear with the time and relax. Take care!
I with my road bike took short time, but me slept the cock but all the other be well because? may be the a saddle?
It´s possible the saddle, there are different saddle measures started in 130-140-155 more or less in my case my saddle is 130 size for me its perfect, Selle Ilalia SL, I´m using the same in both bikes for on or off biking. On this moments you can go to a bike shop who works with Fizik or Selle Italia and both brands have saddle test .There are an specials models for this Kind of paints in Fizik it´s Versus with a little difference on this part of the saddle and in Selle Italia just the same. If you can tell me which it´s the model of your saddle we can see better if it is this the problem or in other case it´s your position on the bike, sometimes it´s because the distance between the handlebar and the saddle for your size it´s too big.
Interesting point. I suppose we have different types of injuries. Mine is due to a fall and yours is a repetitive strain injury (I suppose), so now you have to adjust different things to try to get rid of it. Doohan, who sometimes visits us here, was having knee problems as well. I think he solved it by moving the saddle forward a bit, but obviously everybody's different. I understand biometric studies can be quite useful. Good luck!
Thank you Armentano for your tips on the tyres!. Appreciate it. As Chainring says, what my standard tyres need for now is to ride&ride... Cheers!
my saddle all is carbon, if what is long I don't measured but if what gone at the shop selle or fizik and caught the measured. tank you very much
