Brake adjustments? When talking about full suspension bikes I always thought of the rear suspension as the most difficult thing to get properly done. Stiffer rear suspension needed for better traction when riding the trail, softer for descent practice. Slower or faster rebound, etc… It is a technical problem to be solved on the fly and it requires some of your time setting what feels best to you.

Nevertheless I can tell by those pics that you´ve worked it out.

    You got pm.

Hi Interaptor! I really haven't had any problems with the suspension, I just adjusted everything to a middle position and it feels fine. I have the rear shock in the open position for downhill and on propedal two for uphills. But this is my first full suspension bike so maybe I'm off the mark but don't realize it.

As for the brakes, I needed to adjust the brake levers inward more. In Patones I had to do some REALLY extensive braking and my hands started getting tired, in fact that's the case in the above picture. What's more, the brakes are Formula RX, and people say they're like switches: they're either on or off. But I like them, but I won't be sure till I have to do some massive braking again and see how they do with the levers adjusted.

Hi Kanza! Yeah, the section we were on in the above photograph is one the best in Patones. In any case, perhaps Patones a bit overrated. Really I'd say there are other areas around here with more variety, and more shade!

Just got back from the Sierras. We took the commuter train (Cercanías) to Cercedilla and rode back to Madrid. It was a good ride. We only got rained on a little bit, not enough to get out my raincoat. But the temperature was nice for extended pedaling. It was about 60 km and took us about five hours. We got to Navacerrada at 9:30 and were back in Las Tablas at 2:15. So as I was saying, nice cool weather, really clean air, nice people, a nice outing really.

Interaptor, nice time you're coming with us!!

    Ey!
Cool picture involving bikes and trails up there!
The scenery in the picture is beautiful. The Sierras are great to find beautiful landscapes and the atmosphere among the bikers seems just magnificent. I´m glad it didn´t rain much today on your trip.
I will get my bike little problem fixed asap and ready to go over there with you all. Count on me 4 sure if I am in town!!!

    Cheers.

Hi! Today I didn't have to work in the morning so I went for a quick ride in El Pardo. It's dryer now that winter is fading away, so that means more sand and things are more slippery. But I had a fun ride! By the way, when I got my Rallon I was given some Shimano clipless pedals which I would part with for 25 euros if anybody's interested.

So Interaptor, we're going for a ride on our skinny bikes on Friday, right? Juan Carlos should be coming, though I haven't confirmed that yet.

Yeah! Will pm you with the details on the ride.

Corcerning the pedals I don´t know if I´m ready to (safely) ride on them, but I will get them anyway.

    Got pm.

Hi LaRebe!! Is that you in the picture? In any case, welcome to this thread! So what kind of biking are you into?

Today Interaptor and I went out on our road bikes along with a friend of ours. Did you have a good ride, Interaptor? I didn't really have a chance to talk to you much.

BTW, we've also got mountain bikes and hybrid bikes, so I guess we do it all.

    Hi Larebe! Greetings.

Wow, road bikes. You guy's are really brave - riding bikes on the road just scares the pants off me. Make avalancheerios look totally sane!

Hi La Rebe. Women on the rise!. Have a warm welcome to this part of the forum. It would be a pleasure having you as a part of this thread. So come in, take a seat and say whatever you wish whenever you want. Don´t worry about your English level, no matter what it is, having fun is what counts here!. Tell us something about you. As your “avatar” reveals you´re from Madrid, the same city we ride in!. How long have you been into bikes?.

Well, as Chainring says, yesterday we went for a road bike ride along with J.C. – I have to say I DO enjoy every minute in my roadie, no matter how strong David is and how weak I feel when I have to follow him!. I can feel how my muscles burn into flames trying to follow his pace, especially after 20 kmts from the start when it´s uphill. Yeah!, 50 kmts behind David equals to 100 Kmts by myself. I have always to give up following him that demon speed!. :crybaby He´s really in a very good shape, seems to be propelled by a turbo intake device!!!.:) But I DO ENJOY every time we go for a ride, whatever it is road, mtb or hybrid bike. I really do.:rolf
You were leading the pack; I was trying to save energy behind both of you, so no chance to talk to you –ex. about the pedals on sale… I can barely enunciate when I push hard-, but we will next time.

I went back home along with J.C. . As he told me, he had problems to follow you after passing through Colmenar, I presume he has some extra weeks ahead to get back in shape after his accident. We have to cheer him up, he was in an extraordinary shape before the accident. He will no doubt have bad days but over time It won´t be difficult for him to physically and mentally recover, although he was really tired when we waived goodbye to each other. Anyway I´m glad that things are looking up for him.
Once again, thank you very much for a lovely experience, David. More to come!

Kanza, we´re lucky enough to have an excellent, I must say, bike-lane from Madrid to La Sierra. It´s as if you had an autobahn (a highway) just for bicycles. So, no need to share the ride with cars, trucks or whatever evil machine out there!!!

    Cheers!.

    Hi Guys,

thanks for the messages.. no need to worry about the English level.. I'm English!! although being from the North some would say I don't speak proper English

I'm a mountain biker.. prefer cross country to anything else.. and I live out in the sierra to the North of Madrid - although I've biked all over the comunidad with Club Mammoth. Right now I'm in Cercedilla at the Test the Best event - not riding though, I've come to take photos. I've been collaborating with the organizers of the Trek12 and 24Doce events.. check 'em out - this year's 24Doce is on the 30 June-1st July in Moralzarzal.. it's really good fun. I've taken part twice.. (made podium with an all girls team two years ago!!). Not quite at peak fitness at the moment.. a couple of years more focused on other things but slowly but surely getting back into it!!

    Nice to 'meet' you!!

    Ciaoooo

PS you can see my pics on the link below!!

Oh, since you´re a real professional on both english, your mother tongue, and bikes, your truly great passion along with photography, it´s me the one to apologize for my bike and english level!. So nice to count on you on this very thread. Congrats on living, working and having fun in such a lovely place. You´re a great photographer.

BTW, A week ago Chainring went to Cercedilla for a ride, and I told him about the Test the Best event to be celebrated this weekend. Didn´t know of course you were one of the collaborators but it sounded good to me. Now it sounds even greater!. It´s a pleasure for us to know about you.

I´m just a newbie to bikes, so i take my hat off to you. Love your pics!. Will check them all...

Look forward to seeing the photos you´re taking at Cercedilla!

    Cheers!

Ha ha ha. It's not just strength that gives me the upperhand, my road bike is much more expensive, and lighter, than yours.

Yep, there are some decent bike lanes around here leading out of the city. If you ride in Madrid you're on your own.

Hi northern girl. Don't worry, I'm sure your English is lovely, unless you've got a really really strong accent and I can't understand you. I'm from Southern California by the way, though I've now been living in Spain longer than there.

The group I usually ride with on Sunday seems to be falling apart. In fact, I don't know where I'm going tomorrow. Better start figuring it out fast.

I ended up riding with a group I've never heard of before, and it ended up being a decent ride. They don't have a name and aren't members of this forum (that I know of), they get together by email. It'd be a lot easier if they opened a thread here, but I suppose they don't want to. In any case, we met at Soto del Real (I was given a ride there), then we rode to Miraflores (on dirt roads), then we did a circular route that went through Bustarviejo, then back to Miraflores and Soto. There was a decent variety of terrains, maybe 85% dirt roads and 15 single tracks. So a decent ride!

The group was a bit big, 16 of us, but I'm planning of tagging along on more of their rides if they don't object. Maybe they feel the group is getting a bit big. In any case, you should come along for a Sunday morning mountain bike ride. Do you have a car? Actually I've been thinking that if I don't have a group to ride with, I'll take the commuter train to, for example, Torrelodones and go for a ride in Soto del Real, or to Cercedilla and ride there. I'm looking for a combination of trails and technical sections, it's not for nothing that I got an enduro bike, tho no hard core enduro stuff for me.

LOL Your enduro bike needs some food! yeah, two cars but none of them are prepared to take bikes away on trips without taking the front wheel out... It´s a pain in the neck. Anyway I have to take my mtb bike to SZ Majadahonda and get my fork direction fixed before I am ready to go.

There are a lot of web pages in which we can look for rides and how difficult we wanna them to be. Take this one as an example: http://mountainbikeymas.blogspot.com.es/2005/05/rutas-mountain-bike-y-mas.html, logistical aspects to be considered.
I´ll let you know when I had my bike fixed...
