So you're on holidays and alive and kicking...even better if you're alive and pedaling ha ha

This is embarrassing but I haven't really had a chance to watch the Olympics. Maybe I'll catch a bit today, and I'll keep an eye out for the Chinese girls ha ha.

In any case, I've definitely been on my bike. In fact yesterday went on my first ride with the locals, who are into go-fast cross country stuff. Had to push pretty hard to keep up, but I did! even if I was bringing up the rear. But hey, they've all got cross country steeds and mine's more enduro. But hey, it was a lot of fun, tho it would've been nice to add a technical section or two in the mix. But still, a nice change of pace from Madrid.

Things have been pretty quiet around here so thought I'd check in.

I'm still on vacation in Ares (Ferrol) and riding with the locals. I really think I should've brought my rally bike because that's what I'm mainly doing. You really don't need 160 mm of suspension for fast tracks and easy trails, when I say easy I mean it's not technically difficult, but it's certainly demanding fitness-wise. In any case, I just couldn't leave my new full suspension behind.

I HAVE been doing some enduro riding on my own out on Montefaro, tho obviously it's a lot better if you're with someone. I need to pick up speed going through rock gardens and improve my technical uphills. Actually I've been doing that with my rally friends, also improving corners as there are plenty of curvy fast tracks.

In every life a little rain must fall... or drizzle. That's what we're getting today in Ares. Well, shouldn't complain, have had nice weather.

    Hi guys!. Anyone around here!?.
Back in Madrid, went for a quick ride on my roadie! Oh God... How I missed her all these days!!!. I hope you are all enjoying your holidays wherever you are!.
Anyway, back to internet activity as well after holidays and 1st piece of news on my screen: Armstrong will not contest doping charges!. Lance to be stripped of Tour de France titles and banned from cycling for life.

USADA CEO Travis Tygart´s 1st. interview after Lance gave up:

    http://www.velonation.com/News/ID/1...-1st-1998-will-be-stripped.aspx#ixzz24R6Deq5I

VN: Were you satisfied with evidence that you had amassed, and were you confident in your case?

TT: Absolutely. We never would have brought a case if we were not extremely confident in the level of evidence. And the truth – at the end of the day, our job is to search for truth and justice, to expose the full truth and ensure, to the best of our ability, perfect justice.

VN: Are you surprised by what happened, that this didn’t go to arbitration?

TT: No, I think it was our expectation from the beginning. He knows all the evidence as well and he knows the truth, and so the smarter move on his part is to attempt to hide behind baseless accusations of process. It is pretty telling because the federal court was crystal clear on Monday that our process meets constitutional due process, and that is the appropriate forum for the evidence to be presented and all the arguments to be made.

Hi jorgt!. Nice to meet you again.

Mmmm. Are u suggesting that one way of another -whether legal or not-, most of the elite riders use performance enhanced substances?. Many people say so... :-?

Hey, good to hear from you guys, especially Interaptor! You've been off the radar for a while. I'm still in Ares but will be back in Madrid next week so maybe we can go for a ride.

I agree that the whole Armstrong thing is sad. And it's probably true that many or most pro athletes use performance enhancing drugs, so in that sense it is a level playing field. But it'd be better if no one used them so I suppose at the end of the day the USADA is right, it's just such a shame to make an example of Armstrong, his being a hero and all :(

Thank u so much Chain. After almost 1 month in Ares I´m pretty sure your accent has become weird, kind of spanish-californian-galician thing difficult to array. I´m looking forward to seeing u soon... For sure we´ll start to go for some rides in september when you are in Madrid, but I´ve to say that I´ve definitely ruled out enduro as something that I like, so my very limit is XC and the like when it comes to mountain biking!. ANd of course, I´m a hybrid and road bike man, that is to say we´ll go for many many rides when september comes.

Yeah! It was about time that I sent out a post since the last one to update you, wasn´t it?. You know, when on holidays you forget about everything but to rest and to relax, internet connection not easily available, a lot of "summer things" to do!. So, take this very post as my official re-enter to the forum after some weeks doing nothing relevant at all!. LOL.
BTW, I took a hybrid with me, so during these days I can say I´ve been in close contact to a bike, I mean close contact, not riding it as much as I´d like!!!. But anyway, I´m in the game again. It´s a pleasure to get back to Madrid and ride my bikes on a more regular basis. I missed my road bike, I missed my hybrid bike and of course I missed my MTB. They seem to be as a part of my family now!. Now I´m at home, my girls around me!. :eek:la2

Actually, Bad news for the Armstrongs. Neil died a few hours ago and Lance is facing the most humilliate enemy that honor has: to cheat. More to come on the poor chap. Meanwhile, keep on enjoying the Galician forest and the Galician way of life!!!

    Cheers!

So where were you riding your hybrid? Any pics?

Actually I think I may have picked up a slight Gallegan accent when I speak Spanish, generally no one has any idea where I'm from.

Oh yeah, bad news about Armstrongs...

Oh sorry, I have no pics to show you since I´m not particullary keen on photography. I was riding my hybrid in a completely flat terrain along the coast from Guardamar to Torrevieja 3 or 4 times a week. Poor bike. I took her right to the beach no matter the sand, the sun, and the strong winds and humidity over there! Those are the ideal conditions if you want your steel frame bike to get rusted!!!.

omg inter so you've been at Torrevieja? me too! i dislike it so much.... there aren't any traces of those scandinavian beauties, it's just a massive resting house, i can't stand it. Where's your place there?

we claim for pics about the hybrid don't forget it

Dude! So close to me in Guardamar!
LOL...There are plenty of pinup girls in Torrevieja, but Real cunning scandinavian girls are at least 30 kilometres eastern, in Menorca!. What the heck, you know, Menorca is in, TorreV´s not.
I don´t like TorreV either. As you say, too much people is right if you like it, but not so right when you came from a 5 million people city. Besides, Humidity takes a troll on me. It´s for sure what I can´t really stand in the Mediterranean sea in general, from Barcelona to Almeria. You can´t go for a decent and humble "dry" ride. Your body always get sweaty and you can do little to avoid it. So the only rides I took on my bike were those to the beach in Guardamar or TorreV. And that´s all. Full stop ;-). You can´t imagine how I missed riding my road bike in a less humid place!. Definitely THe Mediterranean coast is not a pleasant and convinient place for me to ride in the summer.
Sorry, I didn´t take a single photo. It was too humid to take the f... camera out of my pocket!!! LOL

Hey, try sunny (and sometimes cloudy or even rainy) Galicia. It's nice here on the coast, and there are pretty Spanish girls (and some that aren't so pretty, but hey, that's life). You also get plenty of humidity at times, in fact sometimes it gets so humid that they turn into little drops of water and start falling out of the sky. But let me tell you, after the rain when the sun comes out, it's spectacular. The atmosphere is crystal clear and you can see for miles, the air is fresh and clean, the vegetation is lush and green: paradise!

Hey Interaptor, don't worry about doing enduro. Actually I've been doing massive amounts of cross country riding with the locals, but there are still technical sections and all sorts of little surprises. The other day we went down a long very muddy hill and my whole bike was sliding all over the place, front wheel and back. Actually I think I got some picture of me at the end of the ride: I'm covered head to toe with mud, looks like I just crawled out of the swamps.

Yeah, as a buck on a presidential table, my evolution stops here!. I´m not an enduro man. But there always are some technical sections to be tackled out there. Talking about Galicia, paradises, enduro and mud... the next Berg´s FS prototype is about to be launched into the market. Not that I need it, do I????? ;-) :love

    Enjoy your muddy rides!!!

BTW The Vuelta a España is also in Galicia today.

That's a very impressive looking Berg.

Like I said, I don't have much to show for my rides here in Galicia, but here are two pics after a particularly muddy one. They were taken in Ares where we go on holiday.
