Hey Inter, your 'down to earth on a bike' link doesn't work. All right Jorge, cool pics! I love bike pics, almost as much as riding! And yeah, the guy in the first pic looks like he has a flat. The second one is a good action pic, must really be moving along to be off the ground. Nice! Alcalá to Navacerrada on mountain bikes! Wow, cool, I can understand why you were knackered. Inter and I have done Cercedilla to Madrid but that's obviously mainly downhill. And you fell! Don't feel bad, I have plenty of experience there.

Yup, Here´s the pic again: Ops! It´s funny. Maybe that supposed flat is just an optical illusion... Cheers!
i apologize for the delay... aye, that wasn't a flat since i shot it while he was landing, so when i say that i'm an awful photographer i'm quite right! That pic form Inter left me speechless it's awesome!
Yeah, breathtaking pic! It's like a dream. I'm hoping to get my own camera one of these days, but I suppose to get photos of myself I'll need a timer feature and a mini tripod. I think to focus them you basically point and shoot... or is it more complicated than that? So Jorge, do you have any idea what your average speed was when you did Alcalá-Navacerrada? It sounds like something you'd do on road bikes, in fact I've done Madrid-Navacerrada that way, and it's a killer. I've sometimes thought of riding to Hoyo de Manzanares on mountain bike, but I'd be so tired when I got there I probably couldn't enjoy the trails there. Then after that I'd be so dead I really doubt I could make it back, but I suppose I could limp over to Torrelodones and catch the commuter train back.
What i do is simply to shoot and run, i don't make much of a fuss of it, tho i like pics the fun's on the bike you know.... With all the stops and so it came out an av speed of roughly 14 km/h, quite easy to improve if you pay attention to it. Actually one of these days i'll do it on my own just to test me, i'm a bit obsessed with no having finished it
Yeah, I hear you, the fun's on the bike, and also if I haven't been able to get through a technical section or something I sometimes get obsessed with it, especially when I know I can do it, or do it better. :cabezazo
I feel like I'm in dry dock. Wonder when I'm going to get out on my bike again. Didn't go for a ride today because of the high chances of rain, but still haven't seen any of it, at least here in Madrid, but maybe it's raining in Colmenar and Miraflores and the other places I usually go on my road bike.
Today the Sun is fighting the clouds out there. Chain, put on your bike clothes, try the mouthful of water trick and get a laugh, It´s time for a morning ride!!! . Enjoyyyyyyyy la2
Hello, everybody, long time since I've been on here. Been ill, then no internet, then busy, then no internet again, etc etc... Anyway, quick question, I'm thinking of moving house and Alcala de Henares ticks a lot of boxes for me (on paper at least). So, tell me, is it agood place to live for a mountain biker. Cheers. Mark oh, here's a bit of Basque snow for you...
HEY Mackem!!! la I missed the "momentum is your friend" man a lot! Long long time no see. It´s always a pleasure to hear (good news) from you. Very nice photo there mate. Have very little time now to properly answer your question. I will pm you (in spanish to be more accurate having my say, and for you to practice your spanish) asap!!!. That´s to say on monday...
hi! good as gold boy, good as gold.. That's my place though! If you're momentum concerned you'll enjoy it! just ask for further info on Alcala
Hey Mackem, good to hear from you again. Very cool pic, all the way to the dog trotting nearby. This is a little embarrassing but in spite of having lived in Madrid for donkey's years, I don't believe I've ever set foot in Alcalá. But Jorge's your man and looks like he's giving you the green light. Yesterday I rode my bike up and down some hills in my neighborhood: boring but necessary. But today I went with friends to La Jarosa water reservoir, that's right by Guadarrama, and rode down the GR-10, the DH-2000, and a bit of a trail called Crato. So got my fix of biking for the weekend. Thank God, I feel a lot better now.
Yeah!!! You took your weekly pill!!! Cycling is like oxygen to you and your bike keeps you alive!!! It sounds like a very nice ride there, David. Congrats on feeling alive again! ;-) McKem, you got pm.
:sofa Guys, I´ve been timid about giving clipless pedals a go so sure that I´d fall. Anyway last week I eventualy got a pair of M520 2nd.hand pedals from Brasi4x4 (great guy!) thinking I´d practice on my hybrid before putting them on my road bike. So yesterday was the D day. I got my courage up and put the clipless pedals on my hybrid to try my shoes with cleats... Found it easy to manage and after putting about 60 kilometers on the hybrie I have to say I didn´t fall and had the impression that getting in and out of the pedals is a piece of cake. Now, the main point. How much of a difference did I tell the clipless pedals made?. Tho I had no way of measuring output, I estimate the increase in my cycling efficiency to be at about an impressive 15-18% overall. While pedaling It was so obvious that I had to expend much less energy that I was smiling all the way long!!!. I now have a better performance in terms of efficiency/energy ratio. I didn´t have to shift down into bigger gears on hills as I used to had. That said, I´ve also noticed my body demads more energy when I push hard on the clipless pedals. Need more time to test them out, but my ego as a cyclist grew some centimeters up!. Will keep those pedals on my hybrid for a while, then boy I WANT them on my road bike!. :bond Cheers!
Wow, that's amazing. 15-18% more pedaling efficiency! You must put them on your road bike and maybe we can go for a ride on Friday! I really think they're best on road bikes because of all the focus on pedaling. BTW, I have an extra unused pair of clipless pedals which I'd be happy to sell to you for a low price, maybe 10 or 15 euros, but they're intended for mountain bikes.
Sure! Thank you David. Well, I have to say that +-15-18% more pedaling efficiency detected when on clipless is on comparation of the efficiency I was used to get on the platform flat pedals my hybrid has. My road bike has toe straps instead, so I calculate my efficiency up to +-10% for my roadie. Then I give toe straps a 5-8% credit over flat pedals! Anyhow, I´m so happy with my 1st. experience on clipless that I don´t mind if yours are specifically designed for mountain bikes. I think I will buy them no matter where they end up on any of my bikes!. Thank you so much for your offer but I can´t accept such a low price coming from a friend! ;-).
C'mon man, just don't tell me that you have just arrived to clipped pedals! One of the greatest improvements ever , thought you already knew that. Go and take advantage of that offer chain has made to you, and welcomed to clipped/cleats world. Aye what a gnarly scenery that spot's real rad, out there in the snow seems so sweet... i foresee another relentless biker coming soon Chain how is it in La Jarosa, icy, windy, wet? forecast me in advance, i'll probably go there in a few days
Yeah, I know it´s embarrassing but the true, giving the fact that my three bikes were platform or toe straps standard mounted, is that I consecuently remained blind to the benefits of clipless pedals. So yes, I think I will accept Chain´s offer ;-). I calculate the benefits being the same as those of getting down on aero bars but much more confortable as well!!!. I´m so happy to know I had a 10% power missed anywhere!!! :love:love:love
