Actually doing El Pardo on Saturday is not looking like a bad option, and the forecast is favorable (tho of course it could change). I was toying with the idea of going for a beginners ride with a friend, but he hasn't been in touch at all. By the way, I work on Saturday afternoon, so I should start heading home at about 1:00, so if we started at 9:30 we'd have three and a half hours. Can you come, Mario? :saltador
Thanx a lot for your invitation guys. But this time is not going to be possible despite the fact I'm looking forward to riding through El Pardo (that I still don't know) with such good sherpas! I'll tell you when this would be possible, take it for sure. :deal ¡Hala! Yo también tengo Tapatalk.
i regret telling you i won't be riding with u 2morrow, i'll do a rehearsal for Sundays ride, there are nearly 70 bikers enroled in it, and i'm pretty scared, guess it will all come out fine! btw, how 'bout your morning ride??
Well, as you know, our interest in cycling implies the two major disciplines, road and mountain, combined. Having been set up Friday as our road biking day, yesterday we had fun on our roadies. There were four of us, went to La Pedriza, ate some energetic food and back home. We put 100 kmts. on those legs of us . Great ride. I love seeing the white snow in the Sierra mountains while heading towards them. Did you enjoy your today´s "rehearsal"? As Chain says, now that you´ve licked up your wounds, get ready for tomorrow´s battle! ;-) Cheers!
Sorry I've been out of touch, between work and cycling seems I haven't stopped for a second. Like Interaptor says, good ride on roadies on Friday, this morning I did El Pardo. To really get my adrenaline going I went down the Redbull run, then the Multisaltos, Los Peraltes, and El Palomar. Did a lot of jumps, that really does it for me, and was feeling pretty confident! Tomorrow I'm going on a ride in the Sierras so I'm going to get up horribly early, but it's worth it! After going through a bit of a biking desert, I'm glad I'm finally getting some good rides in, and experiencing deep tiredness.
It seems like I´m the only one not riding today. Have some commitments. I hope the weather lets you guys ride a lot. Some rain expected for evening and night, not during the morning... White greyish sky tho. Havin´ fun´s on U!
Had a really good ride, tho we had to push our bikes though the snow for about 45 minutes. At first there was no snow at all, but as soon as we reached a certain elevation there was tons of it, well maybe it was 10-15 cm deep and really soft so you sunk into it, and that made for hard walking, and no biking. We were lucky weather-wise, it only started raining when we were back at the cars. So I now I can say I'm pretty tired. Had solid rides on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
:meparto It does have a religious ring to it, or better yet we could say we all belong to the bicycle brotherhood (and sisterhood), but then you lose 'the first day, the second day' stuff. Here's a pic of our bikes stuck in the snow. Note the stream/waterfall in the background.
Cool! The good news about snow and enduro is that it hurts less when you fall over, isn´t it? ;-) At least it should be this way when the snow is not packed down, fluffy enough to have fun by rolling over. I do see the texture and volume of the snow in the picture and luckily that seems to be the case!. A wee on the Frankenstein´s monster side, but cycling specific boots or something with a good tread pattern instead of standard bike shoes should be mandatory when riding (and consequently walking) on the snow!. I hate frozen feet. And yeah! rear brake on the rise! Riding on snow is one of the few times when we have to mostly rely on rear brakes... Safer than front brakes man! Cheers!
Luckily my bike has pretty fat tires so that made things easier, but still it's really tough to pedal through snow, it feels a lot like sand. We were going uphill so no need to do any braking. Here's a pic of me smiling at the camera.
Yep! Furthermore, It´s obvious which tread pattern works better on evacuation and traction. On the snow you can barely make false scents!. Less snow at the rear tyre. ;-)
Hmmm, interesting, the back tire is a Maxxis Ardent and the front a Kenda Navegal, and it does look like there's less snow on the Ardent. In any case, since the snow was soft our bikes sank down and left deep tracks.
no fear for you man! one of the things i hate most is the feeling of riding on icy snow. You lokk pretty glad anyway
Very nice pics, Chain. We can imagine you enjoyed your route just watching them. Those are non stop days so not become frozen! Riding upwards keep you warm... And going downhill without turning into a snowman must be a hard task, mustn't it? Changing topic. Here you'll see the proud organizer and part of the bunch that met for the ride of Sunday (about ninety people from Corredor del Henares) After a successful meeting our Jorge is capable of sleeping like a baby again! :dance ¡Hala! Yo también tengo Tapatalk.
Hey Mario! Nice to see the start line packed with all those people, Jorge trying to sharpen his teeth among them... He did well at the race I presume. Otherwise there would never be any hope for him to rest well. He can´t put up with two races down the drain! ;-) Cheers!
