Very nice vids lads, That factory is a Rhythm and blues ballad of a workplace!. The hubs coming from there will retain the music in them... Cooooool! Chain would be a reluctant spectator at bike shows dreaming he were the stunt biker!!!. ;-) I am more of being attracted to cycling for the training benefits of getting powers of endurance in touch with nature or just for the sake of it. On this account I´m not into enduro tho I reckon it is a relentless pursuit of perfection to constantly improve and never be satisfied!!! ;-)
Morning Mackem, there's kind of 'relaxed' atmosphere at that factory, isn't it? Blatant lack of discipline i'd rather point out. Soooo beautiful !! just as the music coming out of those hubs. Inter don't need to tell you that these guys performing that sort of stunts need to be pretty fit, they are mainly athletes, strong and balanced, and i don't hesitate they would kick our arses raw in a proper xc race there are plenty of examples out there such as Tomac -so typical-, Schürter, Mantecon riding at LA Fenasosa, Absalon does Enduro rides, Tomas Misser... and other xc riders which started their career in DH, 4X or whatever tricky discipline you think of. So in spite of it all it's something phisically demanding ... And now...when will you come to Alcala??
Yeah, I´m not in Madrid right now but I´ll talk to Chain about it when I join him tomorrow for it´s our road bike day. Fickle weather out there put our ride at stake again as more rain is predicted for next week. Is the mud in Alcala dying to know us? Anyway, I do need Mario by my side so that there are at least 4 of us and have two split groups in case you and Chain felt the need to race each other ;-) Cheers!
I didn't realize that some XC riders start off in other disciplines, but it makes sense. Biking is so much fun that personally I'd like to do everything. Actually I don't really feel like I'm at 100% these days for a really hard ride, but if I do go for an XC ride with Jorge in Alcalá I wouldn't want to slow him down too much. But still, it might be nicer if we stay in one group. I imagine if it rains around here it won't rain too much, tho obviously I could be wrong. In any case, we could think about going next Sunday May 12, or Wednesday May 15, or the following Sunday May 19. BTW, did you notice that I'm now a 'forum addict'?
What a pity to be far from you... Now you are arranging some meetings and I can only say... Too far for me, I'm afraid. Weekend is coming closer... Hope to see new pictures of your countryside. I'll try to do the same from here
Yeah, a shame you can't join us. Well, maybe we can get a few more pics. In any case, here's a berm at Alcalá.
Of course you can count on me, Inter. Yesterdayi visited our beloved park again, so I continue becoming fit for our multinational ride. I need to recover some flow also but, step by step I'm on my way.
I was actually thinking that Wednesday May 15 might be better... if the forecast changes. But Sun 19th is definitely an option as well. Today four of us met up on our road bikes, Inter went as far as Guadalix, Ángel to Miraflores, and Juan Carlos and I went up to La Morcuera. I tell you I got tired. Don't have much in the way of photos, for example no group shot, but here's one of me at La Morcuera. I may be smiling but I was knackered.
Speaking of super versatile riders, check out this new vid by Chris Akrigg.
All right, we´ll keep an eye on the weather for May 15. What a video from Chris Akrigg in Spain. It gives me the shivers when he get into the abandoned house to make those stunts at his peril... :alloreto
Looks like the weather forecast hasn't changed much in the last few days, but according to eltiempo.es we might just get a bit of rain on Tuesday, but hopefully none at all, so we could go to Alcalá on Wednesday morning before the forecast rain in the afternoon. We'll keep our fingers crossed! Today is Sunday so I went enduro riding in the Sierras: you'll be happy to hear I didn't crash this time, yay! Went to La Jarosa, at least that's where we parked, and we pedaled up to near the Refugio Salamanca and then rode the GR-10 and Cratos back down. Fun ride and beautiful spring weather. There was green grass everywhere, even under the trees as you can see in this picture.
so will you be here then??? Tell me when and i would go fetch you at the train station and then will go for a buzz at Los Cerros
Thank you so much Jorge!. To a certain extent we do really depend on the weather to allow us to go on Wednesday.I guess we should keep in contact since we'd better decide something tomorrow night for a most accurate forecast. Thanks again mate!. Very nice forest at your back door there Chain!. Yeah, that´s a multicolor year that we have in Madrid. We go from white in the winter to green in the spring. Brown in the fall to blonde in the summer... Man, if you´re a background painter in Madrid your palette should be full of colours :loco
Hi lads! I have to tell you I won't be able to be your partner this week. It's going to be a stressful one, I can say that. I hope to be operational for the next one :taz What a coincidence Chain, I've spent the whole weekend in Guadarrama! On Saturday I rode along río moros valley, on the north side. On Sunday I just went out for some tapas...
I'm thinking of driving there and I can take one more person. Inter, if you don't mind riding to my home, I'll then give you a lift to the trails. The other two times I've gone we went along the M-300, then we pulled into a car park with a bar. I think I can find my way back there, and it would probably be a better meeting point than the train station. I presume Los Cerros is the same place I went before, tho I thought it was called the Alcalá Nature Park. That is a coincidence! That's a really nice area, don't you think? Oh, that's too bad, we'll miss you. It also kind of rules out the possibility of a two-speed ride. Inter, I was going to say that Capslow (Nacho) has been in touch and would like to come along. So I was thinking that we might as well mention our possible ride on our neighborhood thread (Las Tablas Sanchinarro Pinar Chamartín) and see if anybody else would like to join the party. But all this means it probably won't be a killer ride, ha ha, I know I know, what a disappointment. So we need a clear meeting point, and a map to it for Nacho and others, and good weather! Any thoughts, reactions?
I don´t mind at all, thank you for the offer. I´ll pm you on this matter since Mmick (Miguel) could be up to it as well. So sorry to hear Mario is not fit for the ride. We will for sure miss him around there but wishing to count on him for future rides. Yeah, gonna post on the Chamartin thread to invite people to come along with us on this ride.
Actually I'm a bit worried since the forecast is for rain tomorrow in Alcalá, but we'll just have to hope they're mistaken. Hey, check out this pic from last Sunday. It was taken on the GR-10 trail near the Salamanca Refuge, a tricky section.
